Nusay Gallery was founded in June 2018 by Elena Snagovskaya. It represents contemporary visual artists from Central Asia. At the moment the core mission of the gallery is to attract attention to modern Turkmen art and to show fresh artistic movements in painting, graphic, sculpture and decorative and applied arts. It not only exposes great and independent artists but also finds and supports new and bright Turkmen ones.
There are different periods in history and for everyone there is its own ideology and understanding of it in society that is mirrored in art of Central Asia. Relationships between new cultures and the old ones also can be observed. It should be noted that stylistic researches are directed to the national peculiarities and its enhancement in the context of art world.
Psychology and philosophy of Turkmen people, that probably are in the heart of art, are reflected in works of Turkmen artists represented in the gallery. Folk art itself is in permanent movement and the laws of its movement give unlimited choice of plots for artists. And here the main thing is the possibility to talk about important and necessary themes for contemporary world. The other big aspect that is wanted to be showed up from artists’ works are metaphors and allegories. Such methods of generalization intensify expressive character of art. Allegorical language of works is always heavy with deep meaning of life. As a result of such researches works of Turkmen artists are lyrical, heroical and romantical, they are close to philosophy, reflect different sides of reality and fill art with new senses, characters and stylistic opportunities.
Explosive, spontaneous and in some way wise world is shown in works of Klychmurad Yarmammedov, who played the main role in establishment and development of Turkmen sculpture. In his works we don’t see some restraints but sharp sense of forms and subject action in space. He speaks the language of symbols and allegories. And during all his art life from the very first easel works till significant monumental ones we can see how interesting this problem was solved by him. According to his character, inquiring and ironical view on the world, skills in emotional transfer – from pathetic to homey playfulness – Yarmammedov is still authentic people’s artist. Also, it is important to say that more you get to the heart of his art then more sense of it turns to be human.
Very particular part of folk culture is jewelry art as it shows stylistic peculiarities of art of its era. The jewelry of artist Sapar Goshaev are characterized by meaningfulness and simplicity. Master prefers symmetrical, balanced and calm, rhythmical and classical compositions. But artist works in his unique technique redefining national traditions from the point of new trends in art. The details of his works, that looks like old jewelry, are arranged in new way, that gives contemporary speech to the objects.
